Preserving Heritage, Crafting Comfort

Founded in 2004 in Calgary, Alberta, and now proudly based in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Sheepskin and Things is dedicated to celebrating the rich history of Canadian craftsmanship.

From our roots in the foothills to our current home on the West Coast, our mission has remained consistent: to offer premium, handcrafted products that blend traditional techniques with modern comfort. Whether it’s the rugged durability of our world-famous Tecumseh Canada mukluks—worn by celebrities across the globe—or the intricate artistry of our Spirit Moccasins, every item we carry is a testament to quality and authenticity.

“Real comfort isn’t just what you wear; it’s the kindness you share with the world.” - Sean D

A Foundation of Values & Heritage

Hello, and welcome. I’m Sean Dupuis. I am Algonquin from the Ottawa Valley—part of the "People of the Corn," known historically as a friendly and welcoming people. This spirit of hospitality and connection is the heartbeat of my business.

Growing up across Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Alberta, I have always been deeply fascinated by the Indigenous culture of our lands. Beyond the products, I am guided by the conviction that we must be kinder to one another. My hope is that when you slip on our moccasins at the end of a long day, it gives you a moment of peace to recharge and the energy to put that "friendly people" spirit back into the world tomorrow.

Inspired by History

My passion for our history is rooted in the War of 1812 and the legacy of Tecumseh, who sided with General Brock to defend our lands. It is this spirit of strength and alliance that inspired our brand name.

Artistry and Alliance

As the founder of Tecumseh Canada and Spirit Moccasins, I have dedicated myself to honouring Indigenous art forms through collaborations, such as our partnership with artist Bill Helin to create the "Spirit Moccasins"—a wearable masterpiece symbolizing family unity.

Whether I'm stopping for a photo at an Indigenous statue or researching our history, I am constantly reminded of the craftsmanship we work to preserve every day.

Thank you for supporting our Canadian business.
Warmly, Sean Dupuis
